Vado Mori - Art Print
Vado Mori - Art Print
"Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player That struts and frets his hour upon the stage And then is heard no more: it is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing." Macbeth, Act 5, Scene 5 A grim view indeed. Yes, life is short, shorter for some than most. But, I think that our mortality can be a gift rather than a curse. It forces us to choose how we fill our days carefully, making sure that we live each with purposeful intent and striving towards the end with courage and hope rather than clawing against it with futile protest. Each day, like a picked flower, can be preserved and admired, but never brought back to life. The literal translation of vado mori is "I prepare myself to die." To some, like me, death is an open window to a new adventure. What is it to you? The original piece is 4 inches x 4 inches in size. It is a mixed-media piece that incorporates my original photography, acrylic paint, watercolour, beeswax, pigment inks, dye inks, and etching. It also features quotes by Shakespeare, and an image by Hans Holbein the younger from 1524-26.
Prints come in a range of sizes from the original 4 inches x 4 inches up to 8 inches x 8 inches. Each piece is incredibly intricate and ordering an enlarged art print allows you see all the minute details up close. Additionally, you can choose which medium you would like to have your art printed on. If you would like to keep as close as possible to the original, I recommend the heavyweight cotton rag. Each image is cropped to include a small mat of white around the edge (and, if possible, the title and my signature along the bottom edge), so the printed dimensions of the piece you receive is slightly larger than the size indicated. The image size, however, is the same.
