I met this girl on the bus with her parents. Young and raw, she shone with potential and opportunity. As she gave me a shy smile while holding on to her long, white skirt, the beauty of her little hands struck me. I wondered, "What will she do with her life? What will she accomplish?" Seeing the difference between her hands and mine, I realized that she has lots of time to decide. The original art is 2.5 inches x 3.5 inches in size. It is a mixed-media piece that incorporates my original photography as a base, India Ink, acrylic paint, pigments, dyes, and beeswax.

"Everyday she dies. Each time an innocent heart is broken for the first time. Wake up…Live." To me, Ophelia represents the death of the naïve romantic in each woman. She’s straining to free herself of the childish notions that devastated her in the first place, to resurrect her broken heat, and to love wisely. She’s awake under her shroud and she’s straining, like a butterfly before it emerges from its crysalis, to grow strong and to shake off of her despair. This original piece is 4 inches x 4 inches in size. Vado Mori - Art Print
"Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player That struts and frets his hour upon the stage And then is heard no more: it is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing." Macbeth, Act 5, Scene 5 A grim view indeed. Yes, life is short, shorter for some than most. But, I think that our mortality can be a gift rather than a curse. It forces us to choose how we fill our days carefully, making sure that we live each with purposeful intent and striving towards the end with courage and hope rather than clawing against it with futile protest. Each day, like a picked flower, can be preserved and admired, but never brought back to life. The literal translation of vado mori is "I prepare myself to die." To some, like me, death is an open window to a new adventure. What is it to you? The original piece is 4 inches x 4 inches in size. Persephone - Art Print
Persephone, spring incarnate, awakes and takes her first breath of the year. Departing snow caresses her shoulders and hair, and young tendrils of green and crocuses begin to grow and bud. According to Ancient Greek mythology, Persephone was a beautiful young goddess. She was very close to her mother, Demeter, goddess of the harvest. Demeter’s grief over Persephone’s inevitable abduction to the underworld by Hades (god of the dead) explains the cycle of the seasons. While Persephone was in the underworld she ate 7 pomegranate seeds, forcing her to remain there for 7 months of every year. This is winter. When she returns to the earth again, to the joy of her mother, we are blessed with spring. The original is 4 inches x 4 inches in size.
