Custom House AiDolls Ange Ai Hani, Ange Ai Uri and The Ai Cebee Ball Jointed Dolls Sealing with Testors Dullcote
This is a step-by-step tutorial of how I cleaned my Custom House AiDolls the Ai Cebee, Ange Ai Hani, and Ange Ai Uri and sealed them all with Testors Dullcote Acrylic Spray.

Cleaning bjd body parts thoroughly with toothbrush, water and dishsoap.

Air drying ball jointed doll body parts on a paper towel.

Speed drying with a hairdryer ON LOW HEAT in a small container with paper towel. You must make certain that the resin doll parts are completely dry or the sealant will mottle and give a poor seal. Also, make sure to dry embedded metal parts (like wrist and ankle joints) thorougly otherwise they could rust.

I like to hang my resin doll parts on string while spraying to ensure even coats. It does take a little practice to get underneath them properly, but you get a beautiful finish spraying them this way. You may need to tape the string at points to make sure that the bjd body parts don’t slide around on you.

I accidentally misread the requirements of spraying acrylic sealer and I got a lung full of spray through this welding mask. I felt it pinch my airway almost immediately. I was coughing and my throat and lungs felt constricted for THREE DAYS after. I felt the effects of this spray for months after. Please learn from my mistake and use a proper respirator mask. Work with plenty of ventilation. I hold my breath while spraying and flee the area after spraying so that I don’t get any spray lodged in my lungs. Please read Tekenduis’ article on Den of Angels for more about proper protection while working with resin dolls.

After spraying each coat, I cover up the box with a paper towel to keep airborne residue (and curious wildlife) off of my doll parts. Make sure that each coat is completely dry before applying the next coat otherwise you will get mottling and drips.
